KDDI が共通ポイントサービス Pontaを、ステーブルコイン／暗号資産へ交換可能にする新サービスを年内（12月1日開始予定）に展開することを明らかにしました。 そのために、web3ウォレット開発企業HashPortとの資本業務提携を実施。KDDI が数十億円規模を出資し、HashPortの株式20％超を取得、持分法適用会社としています。
HashPortの技術基盤として、EXPO2025 大阪・関西万博用に開発された「EXPO2025デジタルウォレット」から名称変更された「HashPort Wallet」があり、累計ダウンロード100万件超という実績があります。
サービス構図は、ユーザーがPontaポイントを「HashPort Wallet」上でステーブルコイン／暗号資産に交換し、そのステーブルコインをKDDIの決済サービスau PAYの残高チャージや送金・決済に利用可能になるというもの。
「ポイント」という日常的な資産をステーブルコインというデジタル資産に変換し、送金・決済に使えるようにする試みは、使いやすさもあいまってweb3を身近なものに引き下げる可能性があり、注目です。
KDDI has announced a new service launching on December 1, which will allow users of the common rewards program Ponta to convert their points into stablecoins or other crypto assets. To enable this initiative, KDDI has entered into a capital and business partnership with the web3 wallet developer HashPort, investing several billion yen and acquiring over 20% of the company’s shares, making it an equity-method affiliate.
HashPort’s technology is built on the wallet originally developed for the EXPO 2025 Osaka–Kansai event—formerly known as the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet and now rebranded as the HashPort Wallet, which has already surpassed one million downloads.
The service structure works as follows: Users can convert their Ponta points into stablecoins or crypto assets within the HashPort Wallet, and then use those assets for au PAY top-ups, transfers, and payments within KDDI’s ecosystem.
This initiative is noteworthy because it brings web3 closer to everyday life. By allowing people to transform a familiar asset—reward points—into a digital asset that can be used for real payments and transfers, the service combines ease of use with blockchain technology and has the potential to significantly accelerate mainstream adoption of web3 in Japan.
