この動きは、先日ブロックチェーン分析会社Artemis(アルテミス)によって発行されたレポート 「Stablecoin Payments at Scale: How Cards Bridge Digital Assets and Global Commerce」 が示す潮流とも重なります。

U.S.-based brokerage firm Interactive Brokers has launched 24/7 account funding using USDC. This allows clients to fund their brokerage accounts at any time, without being constrained by banking hours or international wire transfer delays. Deposited USDC is automatically converted into U.S. dollars and the company has also indicated plans to support additional stablecoins issued by Ripple and PayPal in the future.

This development aligns with trends highlighted in the recent report published by blockchain analytics firm Artemis, titled “Stablecoin Payments at Scale: How Cards Bridge Digital Assets and Global Commerce.” The report notes that stablecoins are increasingly being integrated into existing global payment infrastructure through card networks, allowing them to be used for everyday transactions in a way that is largely invisible to end users. In this sense, stablecoins are no longer confined to on-chain assets, but are increasingly functioning as backend rails connecting digital assets with traditional finance. In this context, Fidelity Digital Assets and BlackRock indicate in their 2026 outlook reports that tokens are increasingly transitioning from speculative instruments to foundational components of the financial system, supporting practical use cases such as payments, settlement, and custody. At the same time, Ethereum has seen transaction volumes reach record highs, pointing to growing real-world demand at the base-layer level.

In contrast, the use of crypto cards and stablecoin cards in Japan remains relatively limited compared to overseas markets. Alongside regulatory considerations and implementation costs, Japan’s relatively high tax rates on crypto assets have been pointed to as a key factor discouraging everyday usage. This has, in turn, reduced incentives for service providers to invest in the infrastructure required for blockchain-based payment systems. That said, in Japan, pilot projects exploring stablecoin payments using the My Number Card as a method of KYC and/or proof of wallet ownership, in collaboration with entities such as MyNa Wallet and Sumitomo Mitsui Card, are now actively underway as initial steps toward connecting regulation with practical implementation.

The Interactive Brokers example is a symbolic illustration of how stablecoins are gradually shifting from speculative assets to practical financial infrastructure that supports payments and fund transfers.
